What software are there to track which websites a wireless router user has visited? I am looking for software that can track the websites and webpages a user has visited. For example, I am operating a wireless router that connects 5-7 users to the Internet. I am interested in what are these people are doing with my wireless service, as in are they abusing the wireless service that I am providing to them? I am interested in how much time they are spending on the Internet, what websites they have visited or the webpages they are surfing and if they are downloading materials. I know that such software are available on the open market but so far, I'm not sure where to find them. I am hoping for examples of such software that I can use. Furthermore, I also wonder if the users on my wireless router can block such tracking software or If they can tack my attempts to follow them or if they will be aware if I am using such software to track them. I undertsand that large networks and corporations routinely use such software. Are such software very expensive?

But you can not install it in another computer. How does the software identify its "home" then? If I change the hard drive then can I reinstall the same software or I can not?

Several different software programs ie AntiMalwareGuard etc, continue to pop up and advise that I download them to remove the numerous threats found during the scan of my comuter. Does the verizon dsl software or any other software need to be installed on a second computer? Ok, here's the situation. My cousin has a computer that was given to him. He already had a connection running from the router in the kitchen to his room, with his roommate's pc in the kitchen right beside the router. Not sure if this an actual network as they are not connected by a server. But anyway, they have Verizon DSL. He had the Verizon dsl software installed on his old computer, but the cd(s) ended up getting lost. Well, we got the new computer hooked up to the dsl connection in the apartment (typing on it right now) without using the Verizon DSL software cd(s), and he also has Avast anti-virus installed on his computer. But does he actually need to install any Verizon dsl software or any other software for the modem/router the connection is coming through? And if so, is there any way of getting the software short of calling Verizon or the router manufacturer for more cd's? Thanks to anyone who can help.

What database software to learn to get a job? Oracle, MS SQL Server (with Transact SQL), or some smaller vendor's database such as mySQL? Or even MS Access? Oracle has the largest market share and it runs on multi-platforms. MS SQL is limited to MS Windows even though there's some movement to make it run on non-MS Windows platform. It's also easier to learn than Oracle. MS Access doesn't seem to be a marketable skill, even though most of small databases are in Access at most companies. Reality of software Industry? I m 25, looking for a career change to software, from Lecturer in technical college for the past 5 years. I get conflicting guidance from my friends as well lot of online well wishers. One of father friend's son, who works as HR manager for MNC said I m too old to get into software industry, may be i may try my luck in software training, thats the only possibility. But my friend who worked in number of jobs, sales, marketting, production... you name it, all these 5 years, learned JAVA just 4 months ago, shifted to software company and gets a good pay, he even put a fake experience, he infact works in the same company as that HR manager, but in different state. Now i wonder what is the reality of software industry. Now to ask you 1. Am I too old to get into or look for career change? 2. Will I able to successful career in software? 3. Which area of software should i think for entry to software... Software Testing or JAVA or ASP.NET or mainframe or Oracle?

Camera Software & Windows Vista? I just bought a new laptop & of course it has Windows Vista on it as an operating system. I have photo editing software other than the software that came with my camera (Canon XTI), but none of the software will do one of the functions I use the Canon software for. I use the Canon software for the remote camera feature (where you can connect the camera to the computer & when you take a picture it automatically comes up on the computer monitor so you can instantly veiw it as a big picture instead of just on your cameras screen) Anyway I downloaded the software to my laptop & it didnt work. I tried everything & when nothing worked I took it to a Pro camera shop and they said it is becuase Windows Vista doesnt support anything but HP OE software at this time & they are trying to create a patch to fix that & the only way to get it to work is to put XP on my laptop. Has anyone else ran into this & does anyone else know a solution other than downgrading the OS on my laptop?
Language in software? I've installed 2 softwares on my PC, one in Chinese and one in Japanese. To make the software run correctly, I have to select a language that matches the laguage of my software in "Language for non-Unicode program" in "Regional and Language Options". However, if I've set the language to Japanese, I have to set it back to Chinese(PRC) whenever I want to use the Chinese software and I have to set it back to Japanese when I want to use the Japanese software. Is there anyway to set the language to Chinese(PRC) for the Chinese software and Japanese for the Japanese software at the same time so that I can run both software without having to switch the language everytime? How to avoid virus from internet spread to the new operating system by this hard disk that the download software locate?
Software operation question.? I use a music recording software installed on my PC.I've made some settings on this software & it is automatically recalled when I open it up.Now I would like to install the same software on an external drive & hook it up to the same PC so I can make different settings on the software that is in the external drive.I would like to know if there would be any conflict or other problems when I open the software that is on the ext drive (while the installed software on the PC is closed)? Will the settings saved on the ext drive show up or the settings on the internal drive when I do this? Above all pls tell meif it's okay to do this& if I will be running into any complications by doing this. The reason why I need to do this is that I use 2 external interfaces along with the software.Each time I switch between the 2 it becomes a major hassle with cables & software settings.So I would like to set one for 1 interface & the 2nd one for the the other.Hope you get it!
Software compatibility with Ubuntu (Linux)? I have been told about Linux based OS ubuntu. I would like to know if there are any software compatibility issues with it. I myself would be forced to use Office for example and to be honest I am very used to MS software. Why did installing the software for a Microsoft mouse disable the software for my Microsoft keyboard? Decided to replace my four-year-old Microsoft corded optical mouse with a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 2.0 wireless mouse. When I installed the new software, I found that my MS Digital Media Pro keyboard was no longer accessing its installed software. The keyboard software with its settings was still listed in Programs and in the Control Panel. I uninstalled/reinstalled that software and the new mouse software but same problem. I did a system restore and started from scratch...same problem. The new mouse software had required me to completely uninstall the old mouse software, so After doing an even earlier system restore, I reinstalled the old mouse software, and presto, I could use all the functions of the keyboard and new mouse except horizontal scrolling, which I can live with. Any ideas? Thanks.
Who has software ownership rights? Client contracts with company1, paying them to do a project and also to develop a software program for use with it. It is written in that the software will be for the client to use, but nothing specifically is stated that the client owns the software. It is just assumed. To complicate things further, the actual author that developed the software at company1 leaves to go work for company2. The client now wants to contract with company2 and possibly other companys, distributing and letting them use the software, but company1 claims ownership rights even though they don't know how to use it. They want to "improve it" for use with other clients. Company1 claims ownership. Client claims ownership. Author at Company2 also feels he should have ownership rights. Who LEGALLY owns the software, and if you feel different from that then who SHOULD own the software?
Can software possibly be "flightworthy", or fit for purpose to be used on a submarine for that matter, unless there is an audit trail showing all changes from previous software that was flightworthy, AND the software whose flightworthiness we are asking about can also be tied to trustworthy test logs produced in trustworthy simulators ? Or is it too extreme, to demand this ? There seems to be a belief we can put a wrapper around untrusted software and somehow finish up with trusted software. If a single line of code is dubious, shouldn't we reject the product in toto ? I have often noticed that when dubious software, or even software that is known not to work, is somehow being offered for trial/acceptance/etc, there is often a good version sitting on a shelf, ready to use, but somehow it is passed over. The staff who produced it are chafing at the bit, but are powerless. Some people think <we don't need an audit trail, because we can rely on our trusted "process">. But our "process" would only be any good if it forced us to have an audit trail. If the "process" doesn't do this, it's not fit for purpose. To Paltu, Terrific. Thanks.

Future Careers: Are software engineers the same as developers? Would computer engineering be a better route? I've decided I want to go back to school within the next year or so to become a software engineer. Now, the problem here is that everyone has a different view of what a software engineer is and how they relate to a software developer. Does the title software engineer earn one more money than calling oneself a developer or are they one in the same? I want the title and status of computer engineer, but my real interest lies in software and programming rather than hardware. Perhaps I should get a degree in computer engineering, but look for a job focusing on software. But everything I would learn about hardware would then be useless resulting in an unnecessary workload. Would a computer engineer with a general understanding of all hardware and software earn more than someone who specializes only in software? What is the quality of life for these professionals (time for travel/leisure/stress)? Any advice or recommended books for a novice with interests in this field? Thanks.
What is the best software to build a site (video channel) to play my 30 minute TV show and do live streaming? I have bought the domain name for my site. I want to put together a site that I can upload my 30 minute TV shows and other programs.This will be like an internet TV channel. Also I would like to do live streaming. I do realize I will need a lot of server space I have found a software called Absolute Video Channel by XIGLA for around $300.00 but I'm not sure if this is what I need or the best software to use. It has built in templates, players, etc. I have another website already and know a little about building websites because I built this one myself with software called WEB EASY. Eg Do they just have to be a software programmer or can they do like game programming, web programming/developing or anything which is related to computer software?
